DR. HANDE OMUR

A Little About Me

I am Dr. Hande Omur, formerly known as Dr. Hande Okan.

I am board certified in Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry) and specialize in ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

After 16 years in practice, most of my patients tell me I look very young when they first meet me with a bit of hesitation about me being an experienced-enough psychiatrist. I get it. I know finding a psychiatrist is extremely difficult, let alone finding someone you can trust with such sensitive information. I strongly suggest you do not take my word for it and read my patient’s experience with my practice. Why do they stay with me for such a long time even after that first hesitant moment?

When I did my residency at Maimonides Medical Center and fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center/Weill Cornell NYP, working closely with cancer patients, I noticed…

I then worked as an attending at Westchester Medical Center until recently and am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at New York Medical College.

WE ARE PRODUCTS OF OUR PAST, BUT WE DON’T HAVE TO BE PRISONERS OF IT.

Thanks to our doctor, we've managed to overcome those hurdles

Our wonderful doctor, Hande Omur, has had an incredible, positive impact on my son’s personal growth and mental well-being, and we couldn’t be happier with the progress we’ve made. When we first started therapy, he was grappling with severe anxiety disorder and depression. Thanks to our doctor, we’ve managed to overcome those hurdles, and our daily life has greatly improved in terms of quality. My son’s relationships with his family have also flourished, and he has become more aware of his responsibilities towards himself and towards us. We are truly grateful to our doctor and extend our heartfelt thanks for the positive transformation she has brought into our lives.

WHY ME?

Unusual for a psychiatrist, I love to provide therapy, particularly long-term therapy which would serve as a journey to yourself. Most of my patients have been with me for 2-3 years for weekly therapy.

I have a keen interest in treating Adult ADHD. I also like treating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I do not treat bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or addiction disorders. Exceptions can apply to mild cases.

I know finding an appointment with any psychiatrist has been extremely difficult, not even considering finding someone you can trust, who is knowledgeable, experienced, culturally sensitive, and caring.

I hope to see you on the other side…

THE MOST COMMON WAY PEOPLE GIVE UP THEIR POWER IS BY THINKING THEY DON’T HAVE ANY.

hello there.

READY TO
START?

Listen, I know it’s hard to make a decision.

But taking action is the first step to your wellbeing.

Schedule a session with me today to see how it would look like to work together. And finding someone who can provide therapy and medication together is a struggle for most. I have been in the field for 16 years and I can tell you this: just deciding to move forward and get help is huge.

You will see that I treat my patients as a human first, and I believe every person is unique.

That’s why all my patients stay with me for years because this is a journey to finding your true self and I will be there every step of the way.

Dr. Omur has a wonderful bedside manner,
so to speak, and I have always found it easy to be forthright with her

Dr. Omur has been seeing me as a patient now for more than 2 years. In that time, I’ve made remarkable progress with my condition and gained greater insight into my own emotional state.

In addition, she has taught me some helpful techniques for managing my emotions which has made life considerably less difficult in the day to day.

Dr. Omur has a wonderful bedside manner, so to speak, and I have always found it easy to be forthright with her. She’s also very understanding when it comes to topics that the patient does not want to discuss further.
